THE AGE BUSINESS MAY 31
BUILDING ACTIVITY HITS RECORD
This article is about how the construction volume has risen by about 9% year on year and is up 2.7% this quarter. in the building sector cost of work rose 11.9% and the volume up 7.5% showing inflation of about 4%. In Victoria the volume dropped 3.9%.
This is bad news for Victoria and if the inflation rises might contribute to interest rate rises as construction contributes about 10% to the national economy this will make it even worse.
